So I had a thought.
And if I’m being honest, by “thought” I mean like you know when you’re meditating and get a flash of … something?
My flash was:
Bumper cars.
Haha I know.
Bumper cars?
That was my reaction. But! Stay with me.
You know how bumper cars are powered?
They have a long pole on them with a flexible metal flange at the top of the pole, which connects to an electric grid overhead?
(Sometimes it casts off sparks? I used to be afraid of those sparks as a kid.)
Yeah. You’ve already got it, don’t you?
That grid is ... The Grid.
It’s the Ancestors, The Universe, The Force, Higher Power, Spirit, Source. Mother Gaia. The Great Cosmic Echidna. Take your pick.
And yep, we’re the bumper cars.
We drive around, bumping into each other, laughing and crying and getting hurt and hurting each other.
Maybe we team up with other bumper cars, maybe we fight them en masse.
Maybe we like the look of some bumper cars more than others.
Add your own analogies. We do what we do.
And a lot of us - maybe most of us - think that’s all we are, that’s all there is - bumper cars in a chaos of bumper cars.
We drive around this little bumper car lot, absorbed and preoccupied with the fun, or the bumps, or the anger, or the limited time allotment, or the physical discomfort, of our time on the lot.
But UM HELLO meanwhile we’ve been connected to, and in fact powered by, this shared grid this entire time.
All of us little bumper cars, connected to the very same thing.
We couldn’t even get our bumper cars to bump into each other without it.
The grid is super much real there.
And we are super much real directly connected to it
Which means there’s no need for a priest that might try to cling onto that pole, directing the energy between you and the grid.
It’s us and the grid, and we are all equal but the same but different, and the grid, it’s been there powering us this whole time.
All we have to do is look up.
XOXO

I’m in the pretty teal one cruising along the perimeter, looking at the trees and clouds and birds and wondering why so many are trying to be first, or right, or critical. Which makes me one of them tooo.
